NAACP Ball in Baltimore, Maryland, 1912
- Time appears to have stopped at this Midwinter Assembly Ball in Baltimore, Maryland, photographed by Addison Scurlock sometime before February 1912. This is the formal midwinter gathering of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the NAACP, an organization only a few years old at the time. Founder W.E.B. Dubois is present (right front of photo), as are potentially many of the most influential African American leaders of the early 20th century.
