Yolanda Petrocelli
Yolanda Vasquez Petrocelli is a native of Mexico City now living in Artspace Bridgeport, CT. She studied art at the San Carlos Academy, Mexico City, The University of the Americas Mexico and The University of Texas, Austin, TX.
During a recent trip to Mexico, Vasquez Petrocelli was in awe of the surrounding landscape and a large moth on a museum wall. She was inspired to create a series of self-portraits incorporating a moth in surreal and dreamlike images. Vasquez Petrocelli describes these images as a celebration of the spirit of women and nature.
Vasquez Petrocelli has participated in numerous solo exhibits to include the New London Cultural Center and Bridgeport Public Art. Invitations to group and juried exhibitions include MMX Artistas Mexicanas en 2010, Seville, Spain. Her work has also been included in the Art Resources Series, selected by the Mexican Museum in San Francisco and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
