In
creating my art for Native American History Month, I especially
wanted to honor the beliefs and respect for nature, the land, and
all of the elements that provide the great spiritual reservoir for
the Native American Community. I have selected the image of the
butterfly since it encompasses the visual elements and spiritual
components of being both ethereal in beauty, and purposeful in the
understanding of life's transformations. The wings of the butterfly
are like the painted pallet of the universe, with each magnificent
design being unique and inspirational in itself. The medium of Batik
that I have used to create these images, allows for the free and
fluid movement that is inherent in the butterfly's journey.
