Simone Spruce-Torres

Simone Spruce-Torres received a Bachelors of Fine Art from the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio. She is a contemporary artist who creates a variety of multicultural portraits and figures with acrylic paint and graphite pencil--her mediums of choice. Spruce-Torres has been told that when people experience her work, they feel a powerful sense of awareness, encouragement and enlightenment. "My purpose as an artist is to use my art as a vehicle to raise awareness of social issues and to bring about social change," she says. Spruce-Torres remarks that many of her images contain symbolism that creates a powerful sense of time and place to engage her audience.

Spruce-Torres' work has appeared in galleries, museums, colleges and universities throughout the United States. Her work is also in public and private collections.
