Sheila Prevost

Sheila is a Professional Multimedia Artist based in NYC. She currently works in advertising by day and consumes her evenings painting. Sheila holds a B.F.A. from Cooper Union School of Art Architecture and Engineering in New York City. Sheila started her career in graphic communications directly after college in design communication firms as an designer/art director. She has work on endless accounts for Nike, Sony Electronics, Lexus, LandRover, Merck, Bayer, ABBA, The Partnership, Spike Tv and Hewlett Packard. She is currently the proprietor and principle Creative Director of SL Prevost Design, an Advertising, Brand ID and Interactive studio based in NYC. Sheila has provided her creative services for regional and nationwide ad campaigns for both print and online media. Her company has successfully obtain contracts with Marketing NYC, Titan Outdoor Media, Capital Records, Artemis Records, Adage Group, Harlem River Park Task Force, Urban Force, Essence and an a host of others. Sheila's company is currently in involved in the 2009 This is Newark Gateway Urban Design Initiative. In 2009 SL Prevost launched TangerineRUSH an Online international Art and Business Magazine.

Sheila is also a professional painter & mix media artist with major selective international exhibitions underneath her belt. Curators such as David EO of KDAA (2007 Korea, 2008 Tokyo and 2 back to back 2009 Seoul Korea exhibitions), Gwendolyn Black of IAM, Derrick Adams Russell Simmons Gallery in Chelsea, Valerie Cooper of Picture That Gallery in Connecticut have invited Sheila to exhibit from NYC, Korea, Jamaica to Japan. Sheila's images reflect the voices of the African American cultural experience. Her imaginative use of color along with the technique of cubist influenced style, renders experiences powerful and thought provoking. Her deep passion for all genres of music is very apparent in much of her work. Sheila's work will be on exhibition at the 2009 International Invitation Exhibition of KDDC. Starting late June 2009 At the Donghae Multiculture & Arts Center in Seoul, Korea.

Sheila’s paintings and mix media works can be found in a growing number of personal collections, indie films and publications. Recent publications include: African Voices Magazine Spring/Summer 2008, Growing Up! Seoul Korea 2009, International Exhibition of KDAA 2008 in Tokyo, Cutting Edge 2007-Best International Designers, Role Call - A Generational Anthology of Social & Political Black Literature & Art (Edited by Tony Medina for Third World Press) and Spirit Anthems and Ancient Magic by Layding Kaliba. Sheila is currently collaborating with African Voices Poetry Editor Layding Kaliba on his upcoming tabletop book of Poetry and Art (2009).
