Robert Arnett
Robert
Arnett is the author and photographer of the internationally acclaimed
book India Unveiled that has won 3 national book awards. It is probably
the only book on India ever written in the West to receive official
recognition by an Indian Prime Minister. He is also the author of
Finders Keepers?, an illustrated children’s book set in India,
that has won 4 national book awards.
Mr. Arnett has had an avid interest in India for over 25 years.
From 1988 to present, he made five trips to India and spent over
19 months there studying art, culture, and religion while living
with Indian families.
A nationally recognized speaker, Mr. Arnett has lectured on India
widely throughout North America to include The Smithsonian Institute,
The Kennedy Center, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford Universities. He
has also spoken extensively in public and private schools and libraries.
He was a speaker at The Parliament of World Religions held in Cape
Town, South Africa in December 1999.
His corporate presentations include AT&T, Lucent Technologies,
Motorola, Delta Airlines, British Petroleum, and General Electric
Corporation.
Mr. Arnett was a featured speaker at the following annual conventions:
AAPI, JAINA, TANA, Bengali, Konkani, Marathi, and Leuva Patidar
Samaj.
Mr. Arnett has been interviewed on National Public Radio, Voice
of America, South African Broadcasting Corporation, and on various
television programs.
A native of Columbus, Georgia, Mr. Arnett has a Master's Degree
in History from Indiana University. Undergraduate studies were at
Tulane University, University of Georgia, and the London School
of Economics in England. He taught History of Western Civilization
for the University of Maryland, European Division, while serving
in Turkey as one of the youngest Commanding Officers in the U.S.
Army Signal Corps.
He and his brother, William, put together a nationally and internationally
known collection of Oriental, African, and Primitive Art.
