Picture That

Norma Greenwood

Norma Greenwood has a graduate degree in Fine Arts from Hunter College, New York. In her early teens, she attended drawing classes at the Brooklyn Museum and classes at Pratt Institute for high school students. Greenwood states that her paintings "describe the passage of time in the same way images of light and shadow describe a fleeting moment." She remarks that her figurative work focuses on women, especially her mother, who has had an effect on her art and has carved out a unique and independent path in the world. "The context for my work," says Greenwood, "is the relationship between color, form and scale. My objective is to make luminous paintings that engage the viewer in a new way."

Greenwood was awarded a public art commission to create a permanent art installation for the International Airport in Jacksonville, Florida. She has had several solo exhibitions and her work is represented in private and public collections including AT&T, Citicorp, CUNY Art Gallery, and Columbia Pictures, Ltd.
