Nathaniel Alicea

"As a child, I would sit and watch my father paint or sketch portraits. At the age of 4, my father gave me my first pad and pencil and I have not put them down since." Born in Bridgeport, CT, and raised in New London, Nathaniel Alicea (aka Boon) was mentored by his father, who too, was an artist. Nathaniel is a reality artist who creates photographic art mixed with overtones of his own reality to create each distinctive piece. Gifted with extraordinary vision and technical skill, he has a profound desire to work at his craft and is dedicated to sharing the fruits of his artistic labor with the world community.

For the past ten years, Nathaniel has received commissions to create portraits, logos, murals, paintings, post cards, signs and designs on clothing. He recently completed a commission for the General Electric Corporation that was a group portrait of the corporation’s Top African American Executives. Working in black graphite pencil mixed with pastel and soft color graphite pencil, Nathaniel expresses his love and respect for his culture through his art. His work has been featured at galleries in New York and Connecticut, various festivals, and entertainment events. Eager to take on new challenges, Nathaniel also creates his images on skin as a tattoo artist.
