Myrna Morris
My
philosophy as an artist is that “the art of painting is a
journey of involvement through many ways in the quest of a unique
identity.” Because of my interest in people and the human
figure, I try to capture movement and vitality in a simplistic form.
I have always been fascinated in how the body communicates messages
and often use dancers as my theme.
I hold a B.A degree from Saint Peter’s College and an M.A.
from William Paterson University. I have studied at the Art Students
League, New York, the Barnes Foundation, and the Arts Center of
Northern New Jersey.
I enjoy working in various media, including oil, acrylic, charcoal,
and pastels. Exhibitions of my work have been held at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, New York, The Bergen Museum of Art and Science, Harvard
University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wheaton College, The
Cellar Gallery, Design Masters Group Gallery, Take Two Gallery,
Cousen Rose Gallery, Martha’s Vineyard, libraries, and businesses
such as Lever House and American Express. My works are in numerous
private collections throughout the country and overseas.
