Karen Porter
A
native of Stamford, CT and the mother of two wonderful boys, I have
spent all of my adult life working under the structures of corporate
America, the proverbial square peg in the round hole.
I began drawing as a child, as most children do, never considering
my pastime to be a valuable talent. I only thought of art as a means
for entertaining myself. I purchased my first set of oil paints
in 1982, and took my first instruction from the pamphlet in the
paint set. Prior to that, my only experience with paint was grammar
school finger painting with thick acrylics. My earliest works can
be found on the underside of my mother’s coffee table.
I am a self-taught fine artist, working with several different
mediums, but favoring oils. I have just recently begun pursuing
a degree in visual communication, focusing on graphic design, and
giving strong consideration to a degree in art history.
