Johnnie Maberry
Johnnie Mae Maberry is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. She is a graduate of Tougaloo College, where she earned the bachelors degree in Art/Art Education. She continued her educational pursuit at Mississippi College, where she earned a Masters degree in Art Education. Nine years later, Maberry returned to Mississippi College and earned the (terminal degree) Masters of Fine Arts degree (2-D). She also earned the distinguished recognition of becoming Mississippi College's FIRST Masters of Fine Arts graduate. A prolific artist, Maberry produces 3-D paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media compositions.
Professor Maberry is currently an Associate Professor of Art with tenure at Tougaloo College, where she is the director of the Tougaloo Art Colony now in its’ fifteenth year. Additionally, Prof. Maberry advises and mentors more than a dozen Art majors at the College. Some of her most recent accomplishments include being a part of the HBCU group exhibits and one person exhibits featured in New York, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Maryland.
