John Tang

John Tang was born in Shanghai, China. He graduated from Shanghai Institute of Fine Art in 1976 and then furthered his study in Nanjing University of Fine Art in 1979. In 1986, John was selected among the leading artists and sent to the US as an exchange artist by the Chinese government. He spent a few years at the State University of New York and Canada to do art researches and oil paintings. He has shown his art works in many exhibitions in the U.S and around the world and received a numerous awards. Some of his paintings belong to several permanent collections such as State University of New York, History Museum of China, and Shanghai Art Gallery.

John’s paintings reflect his yearning and searching for the past. His work also shows a contrast between the life we have now and the life in the past, a contrast that brings back the beauty of simplicity, peace, and elegance to our current busy and fast world.
