Jennie Chien
Jennie
Chien is an informally trained artist, sculpting since 1998, and
working primarily in clay. She has also worked in metal, stone,
wood and glass.
She uses archetypes to create pieces representing Instinct, Inspiration
and the Intellect — invisible qualities within the psyche.
Archetypes are elemental ideas, common to all cultures and recognized
by everyone, no matter what their origin or upbringing.
Her bodies of work include the Chien Noir Series (The Black Dog),
representing Instinct, the Guardian Angels Series, representing
Inspiration, and the Open Heads Series, representing the Intellect.
She has work experience in graphic design, direct mail, magazine
circulation management, and design project management. Her formal
degrees include: Masters in Business Administration from Stanford
University, Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia University,
and Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from San Francisco City
College.
Jennie has served as a member of the Rockland Art in Public Places
Committee and a panelist for Rockland’s Community Arts Grants
program. She is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s
Who of American Women.
