Elise Black

A multii-media painter, sculptor and designer based in Westport, Ct., Elise is equally passionate about fine art and design. Having majored in fashion Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, She worked in the apparel business initially as an Illustrator, later branching into designing and merchandising lines of apparel for various companies including Mistral, Rossignol and Speedo.

While working as a designer, Elise continued to experiment artistically, moving fluidly from one medium to another. Largely self-taught, her inspiration comes from utilizing available materials and finds inspiration in found objects and the unconventional use of various mediums. She started exhibiting and selling her work in 1992 to private collectors and corporations.

In 2001, she was commissioned to create large-scale site-specific sculptures on the grounds of Saugatuck and Kings Highway Elementary Schools in Westport, which is now part of Westport’s Permanent Art Collection. Elise continues to incorporate her love of design with her passion for art. She designs residential and commercial spaces under the company name Artistic Design Solution.
