Dionis Ortiz

Born and raised in Harlem, New York. Dionis Ortiz began his passion for the arts at the age of twelve. In junior high school he attended The Children’s Art Carnival, a not for profit visual arts after-school program, where he received his foundation in abstract art, figurative drawing and painting, photography, comic and illustration. In high school he received awards from Arts Connection, Scholastic (Alliance for Young Artist and Writers) Hallmark Gold Key Award, and the NAACP ACT-SO Gold Key Award, which qualified him for the national awards competition.

In 1997, he attended SUNY Purchase College and graduated in 2001with a Bachelors in Fine Arts and went on to intern with various galleries in New York City such as Renee Fotouhi Fine Art, The D.U.M.B.O Art Center in Brooklyn, New York, as a way of learning the business end of the art world. Ortiz later attended The Bronx Council on the Arts and received his certification in art handling.  In 2002, he participated in various group shows in Harlem with established artists including Terry Boddie and Emmett Wigglesworth.

In 2005, he founded Inspiration Fine Art, a fine art gallery located in Harlem, where he curates various thematic group exhibitions, and showcases the works of emerging and established artists from New York City.
