Creating beautiful artwork is something that I truly enjoy. Whether it is a figure, animal, group of objects or just the texture of something, usually I see something that catches my attention and I have to try and paint it. Not just to copy it but to see if I can portray what it made me feel when I saw it. Mysterious, serene, happy, or pensive, what I initially feel is usually the thing that makes me decide if I want to paint it. I very much admire old master techniques and try to employ them when I begin a piece. Drawing the object, graphing it onto toned paper and then painting it on canvas in monotone really lets me become acquainted with the shapes and shading before I apply color. Although sometimes I can't wait and just start painting with color!!!! It is always a wonderful challenge that I look forward to very much.
