Chizuco Sophia Yw

Chizuco Sophia Yw is a visual artist based on New York.

She began her career as a representative artist in Japan since 1991. In 2000, She moved to New York and started to learn abstract paintings.

She is the recipient of grand prize from ArtNetwork, Directors Recognition Award from Period gallery. She has exhibited in nationally and internationally. Her residency in Beijing, China 2009 developed her theory.

Her paintings were exhibited at Period Gallery, Lincoln Center (New York City), Silvermine Guild Arts Center (Connecticut), Bertoni Gallery (New York), The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (Japan) and Shoko-ji temple(Japan). Her works are permanent collection at Shoko-ji temple, Osaka Medical Center and many private collectors.

Her work theory is based on Consciousness only. Her work suggests the viewer the purity and energy of life. She creates imaginary world with pulling out the memories and experiences.

She uses a variety of media: glass pen and brush, charcoal, colored pencil, oil, watercolor and acrylic on paper or canvas.
