César Alfonso
César Alfonso was born in Cuba and spent his formative years in Havana, Madrid and San Juan. He studied art history, literature and biology at Yale University and relocated to New York to complete a medical degree and study sculpture.
Alfonso’s work includes oil paintings and mixed media. His more recent work of sculptures/assemblages include layers of rice paper applied to paintings with sparse use of metallic and oil paint and printing ink to create depth.
Alfonso’s diverse professional background includes President of the Board of Directors of Children Art Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports art education for children with special needs, and teaching at Columbia University and New York Medical College and colleges abroad.
