Catherine Smith

Catherine Smith first began painting and drawing wildlife in high school. In 2000 she began studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with a BFA in Illustration in 2004. While attending RISD Catherine had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of styles and techniques.

Since graduating Catherine Smith has returned to wildlife painting. However, upon this return to a wildlife subject matter she chose not to focus on the traditional, subject in environment setup, but to capture the essence and character of the subject.

With every painting, Catherine tried to invoke a sense whimsy, fun and charm. There is nothing more rewarding than the smile on a viewer’s face.
