February
African American History
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists of African, Caribbean and African American descent. Partner with Dining Services to offer cuisine representative of the culture. Sponsor an Arts & Craft Bazaar featuring ethnic products.
March
National Women's History
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by a multicultural slate of women artists. Develop an artist lecture series where women artists are invited to participate as featured speakers or panelists.
April
Celebrating The American Multicultural Melting Pot
Host an Art Exhibit celebrating the melting pot of America featuring works by artists of Italian, German, Irish, Swiss, English, African, Middle Eastern, Asian, Caribbean and Latino descent. Sponsor a multicultural Children's Art Exhibit, Online Gallery and Cultural Jeopardy workshop.
May
Asian Pacific American Heritage
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists from country in the continent of Asia (e.g. India, Japan, China, Singapore, etc.) Sponsor events that raise awareness of eastern traditions and practices (eg. calligraphy, henna, yoga, tai-chi, etc.).
June
Gay and Lesbian Pride Month
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists who are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender. Supplement with a photography exhibit from Love Makes A Family that profiles same-sex families.
July Celebrating Family Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists from generations X, Y and Z. Supplement with a family photography exhibit that promotes the different flavors of family (i.e. traditional, single parent, sandwich generation, club sandwich generation, and families with pets.).
September 15 to
October 15
National Hispanic Heritage
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists from each of the 21 Spanish Speaking countries (i.e. Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rica, Chile, Colombia, Guinea Equatorial, Costa Rica, etc.). Partner with Dining Services to offer cuisine representative of the culture. Sponsor an Arte en Espanol hands-on workshop and offer a lunch and learn series of Conversational Spanish Language Courses.
October
National Disability Employment Awareness
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by artists with disabilities. Sponsor a "Silent" Art Workshop and a lunch and learn series of Sign Language and Braille Courses.
November
National American Indian Heritage
Host an Art Exhibit featuring works by American Indian and Alaska Native descent. Conduct a POW WOW and sponsor an artist lecture series where artists are invited to discuss the historical evolution of creating head dresses, totem poles, etc.
December International Holidays Host an Art Exhibit featuring that promotes an awareness of International Holidays including Christmas, Kwaanza, Hanukkah, 3 Kings Day, Boxing Day, Ramadan.
