Susan
Thompson provides consulting and facilitation services in the areas
of diversity and organization development. She has implemented multiple
successful client initiatives as the Managing Director of Global
OD Solutions, as a Consultant with Towers Perrin, as a Senior Consultant
with The Felicity Group, Ltd., and as a Diversity Specialist with
Baxter Healthcare Corporation. In these positions, Ms. Thompson
has worked extensively with Fortune 500 clients in a variety of
industries. A partial list of clients includes Alliance Capital,
Allfirst Bank, AT&T Wireless, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Baxter
Healthcare, Deutsche Bank, Eli Lilly, The Federal Reserve Bank,
Ford Motor Company, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, JPMorganChase,
MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mellon Bank, Microsoft, The New York
Stock Exchange, Panasonic, Sony Music, Starbucks Coffee Company,
Towers Perrin, and Tropicana Beverage Company.
In her diversity assignments, Ms. Thompson has managed large-scale
teams, performed organizational audits, facilitated diversity councils,
structured people strategy initiatives, certified trainers, designed
program content, delivered training, and coached senior leaders.
She has also designed and delivered other components of comprehensive
organizational development initiatives in the areas of leadership
development, team building, mentoring, executive coaching, gender
relations, cross-cultural communications, competency development,
and human resource reengineering.
Ms. Thompson is a former Operations Manager who held complete P&L
responsibility for her regions, including financial services, credit,
customer service, transportation, distribution, sales support, and
purchasing. She has lived and worked in Detroit, Chicago, Dallas,
Washington D.C., Charlotte N.C., New York City, Seattle, and Baltimore.
Her international experience includes working with clients in Australia,
Austria, Canada, China, England, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan,
New Zealand, and Spain, in addition to the year she spent volunteering
and living in the Caribbean island chain and Venezuela.
Ms. Thompson holds a BA in English and Psychology from Michigan
State University, where she was recognized with an “Outstanding
Liberal Arts Graduate” award. She has also completed additional
graduate level coursework in Change Management, Human Resources,
Diversity, and Organizational Development, including certification
in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. She is a member of the Society
for Human Resource Management, The Diversity Leadership Forum, and
the American Society for Training and Development, as well as other
regional professional organizations. Ms. Thompson holds valuable
operational experience in corporate restructuring and its impact
on workforce productivity, as well as in understanding and managing
diverse workforces in differing geographical, economic, and social
realities.
